Case study: Digitoys

Collect digital toys and unbox them like real ones.

A free iOS and Android app from OnChain Studios. Codigee built the Flutter app around their Unity 6 scenes.

  • From web to app

The platform's Unity content first ran in a React web app, and we brought it to phones.

  • Timeline

First commit in March 2026, on the App Store since July 2026.

Sticker Studio

Decorate your photos with the stickers you collect.

Take or pick a photo, crop it, watch it print as a polaroid, add your stickers, then save or share it.

  • A camera for stickers

The open-source camera_extended captures native 4:3 photos at the highest resolution.

  • Tap, carry, peel

Stickers move by gesture alone, with peel and dome effects ported from the client's own prototype.

  • camera_extended

The Backpack

Your whole collection in one backpack.

Blind boxes, stickers, figures and medallions in one place. Sticker, figure and medallion sets show how complete they are.

  • Six tabs

One each for blind boxes, stickers, figures, items, blister packs and medallions.

  • Parallel sync

All six categories load in parallel and stay cached for up to six hours.

  • flutter_bloc
  • go_router
  • freezed
  • dio + retrofit

3D viewer

See your toys up close.

Medallions and selected toys appear in live 3D instead of a flat picture.

  • One Unity view

A single Unity 6 view sits behind every screen of the app.

  • Focus, emotes, power

The viewer offers focus mode, emotes and a power level from 1 to 12.

The 3D viewer: a Quirkies sticker capsule turns on a purple stage as pixel particles burst around it.

The Shop

Pick a pack and open it.

Single, bronze, silver and gold packs, bought through Apple or Google in-app purchase.

  • Purchases that recover

Built with the client's engineer: each purchase is verified on the server, and pending ones resume at launch.

  • Holo shimmer

Every pack shows its artwork with a holographic shimmer.

Landscape mode

Then the phone turns sideways.

Unboxing plays in landscape, just like in the app. The phone on screen turns for you.

  • Gapless video

Intro, idle loop, outro and reveal play on one player without gaps.

  • Unity steps aside

Clips download in full first, and Unity pauses so the 1080p video does not stutter on Android.

  • media_kit (libmpv)
The app asks you to rotate your device, because unboxing experiences play only in landscape mode.

Try it yourself

Your turn: unbox Darth Vader.

Press and hold the phone screen to open the box, then hold again to unwrap the figure.

Capsule toys

Swipe a capsule open to reveal a sticker.

Each capsule is live 3D from Unity, running inside the app.

  • Repeatable Unity builds

Each build from the separate Unity team lands in the app through the same documented iOS and Android steps.

  • A typed bridge

Messages to Unity are queued until the scene is ready, so none get lost.

Profile

Make the profile yours.

Pick a free avatar and a background, then put your stickers on the header.

  • Sticker header

The profile header is a sticker canvas: place, resize and move stickers on it.

  • The full account menu

Push notifications, help and contact, Terms and Privacy, and account deletion with a 14-day window.

Compete

Climb the leaderboard with your collection.

Toys carry a power level, and global and brand leaderboards rank collectors by their total.

  • Sign-in

Sign in with a one-time email code, Google or Apple.

  • Tilt parallax

The leaderboard header moves as you tilt the phone.

The client

In it together since June 2026.

Digitoys, formerly Cryptoys, is a free iOS and Android app from OnChain Studios for collecting licensed digital toys and stickers: blind boxes and sticker capsules, toys in live 3D, leaderboards and a photo sticker studio.

We started working with OnChain Studios in June 2026. Digitoys launched on the App Store in July 2026, and we still work on it together today.

FAQ

Can Unity run inside a Flutter app?

Yes. Digitoys runs Unity 6 as a library inside one Flutter app for iOS and Android, embedded with unity_kit. A single Unity view stays mounted behind every Flutter screen, and the two sides talk through 18 typed message types.

How does the press-and-hold unboxing work?

In the app, the unboxing is a Unity scene running inside the Flutter app. Flutter picks up the player's gestures, from taps to the long press that opens the box, and passes them to Unity over a typed message bridge. Unity plays the reveal and reports each stage back, so the Flutter screen around it stays in step. The demo at the top of this page recreates the flow with video: the blind box idles until you press and hold, the blister pack waits for a second hold, and a final clip reveals the toy.

What was the timeline?

The first commit in the app's repository is from March 2026, and Digitoys launched on the App Store in July 2026. It is on Google Play as well, and work on the app continued after the launch.

Where can people get Digitoys?

Digitoys is free on the App Store for iOS 15 or later and on Google Play for Android 7.1 or later, with in-app purchases. OnChain Studios publishes it.

What did the client own, and what did Codigee build?

OnChain Studios and its partners own the backend, the production Unity scenes and the original sticker effect designs. Codigee started the Flutter app and built it around them, including the Unity integration and export pipeline, the unboxing video player, the 3D viewer screen, the Backpack, sign-in, leaderboards and the Sticker Studio camera. In-app purchases were built together with the client's engineer.

Can Codigee put Unity inside my app?

Yes. Embedding Unity in a Flutter app is the core of this project, and unity_kit, the package that does it here, is open source. Send us your Unity project, your app or just the idea, and we will plan the integration with you.
